Franz Apartments

Our apartmenst are situated in a neo-classicist residential house in an exceptional locality of the historic city centre. You´ll find us in the exceptional locality made by being in the neighbourhood of the oldest Prague rotunda and park, the National Theatre and Charles Bridge. Spacious apartments offer hotel-like comfort and yet an absolutely private atmosphere.

The house is located at the corner of Konviktská and Divadelní streets in the Old Town of Prague. The house was built in neo-classicist style in 1891 as a work of the outstanding architect Karel Janda, in the place of the pulled down Haller House. In close proximity to the house there is the Holy Cross rotunda, the oldest Romanesque rotunda in Prague, dating back to the 11th century. The rotunda is apparently situated on the intersection of the urban cross of old Prague. There is a legend about its origin that says there used to be a pond in the place where a crucified girl was drowned as a punishment for taking up the Christian faith against the will of her parents. Once on a stormy night the cross is said to have risen above the water level as a divine sign. The large rotten cross was found in the foundations in the course of one of the rotunda reconstructions. Landscaping in the surroundings led to the discovery of a denier coin featuring Prince Jaromír from 1012. Therefore another legend says that there is a cellar here with a great treasure, which has not been found yet...
